I've lost almost 6 kilos (13 pounds) in past 2.5 weeks!!!!
I was always one of those skinny girls that could eat everything (and anything, and did!!) and never put on weight, or not a lot... You know the kind, you've probably hated them your whole life!! LOL  I am also quite tall (174cm, or 5 foot 9 inches), so even when I did put on a little bit, it was never very noticeable...

Anyway, when I was 33 I weighed about 60 kg (1 kg = 2.2 lbs, so about 132 pounds), and then I got pregnant with twins... I put on 20 kilos over the course of the pregnancy... Of course, I lost some of that when they were born, etc, but still, not exactly skinny any more...

When the twins were about 2.5 years I started putting them in the pram for an hour almost every morning, up and down hills, and then a heap of other exercises as I got fitter (sit-ups, push-ups, lunges, etc etc) and got myself mega-fit... I got my weight down to 65 kgs. My heart rate dropped so low that they even picked up an innocent heart murmur!!  However, I still couldn't get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

But, children grow up and at 4 they refused to get in the pram any more (and fair enough, too!!), and they were too young to leave, and too slow to walk with and that was the end of that...  Bit by bit, I lost my fitness, and my weight slowly increased...

Then two years ago I turned 40 (I'm sure that has something to do with it...!!), and when I weighed myself nearly 3 weeks ago, I weighed 72.8 kgs... Now, I realise that this doesn't make me huge, exactly, but it is far from slim, too...  If you put on 2 kgs for every year over 40, then it's not much each year, but after 10 years??? So, I realised that it was time to nip it in the bud...

I started a new eating program on Monday 28th July (less than 3 weeks ago), and I have already lost 5.8 kgs!! I actually lost 1.4kg on the very first day!!  You'd swear that I was pushing the world's cutest baby (aren't they all??) around in a pram instead of my shopping trolley, because I am so proud -- it is so full of healthy food!!

I am so stoked.  I am not allowed to advertise this program on the net, so I can't tell you too much, but I CAN say that it works without intense exercise (just monitoring your activity with a pedometer, and getting it up to 10 000 steps per day) -- not a problem for me, I do 15 000 most days, but it's been interesting wearing one...  I have not had any cravings, and am not hungry at all...  In fact, I am eating MORE than before -- you snack all day on this (but the secret is in what you snack on!! and, no, it isn't fruit!) The weight is just falling off, and best of all, I am learning so much about food and how my body reacts... There is a maintenance plan to this program, and I can so see myself staying at my ideal weight after this, because I now understand what to do!!

The other great benefit is that I am full of energy!! On Wednesdays I work for 6.5 hours in my cleaning business, and I usually get home exhausted, collapse into an armchair and bemoan the fact that I have to lever myself up at some stage to cook some dinner for the kids (or drive up to the local take-away) LOL  Last Wednesday, I got home, took the kids for a walk for 30 minutes and was half-way through cooking dinner when I realised that it was Wednesday and I was supposed to be exhausted on the couch!!

There have been other health benefits, too, and this is after less than 3 weeks!!  I have even stopped drinking wine, which I was tending to over-indulge in... just a bad habit, really, when six o'clock rolled around... Now, I have a herbal or green tea, instead.

The program I am on has a very scientific basis, but you don't have to understand all of that to get the benefits, and it is VERY sustainable.  I'm aiming for 65 kg by Monday week (ie 25 August).  Then I stop losing for 2 weeks, and learn how to sustain that weight while adding more foods (I'll probably have a wine then!! LOL) and then my ultimate goal is 62kg.  Should reach that in 3 or 4 more weeks!!  Then I'm onto Lifetime management, where I'll be good for 19 out of 21 meals per week...

I will keep you all posted with updates to this blog as I go...

Well done Sandra! That a great start. Gotta say I am a little jealous as your starting weight is about where I am after losing 10kg's! But I am actually feeling good right now and doubt that I could get much lower, not sure that I even want to? But you are right, the key to the whole thing is learning a sustainable healthy way of eating, and the sticking to it. Good luck with it kiddo!
Oh, btw cant see you lasting without the wine:P

Way to go. I have confidence in you that you will make your goal and enjoy a healthier lifestyle. I myself need to find some way to lose some serious weight ugh nothing seems to be working for me and being disabled makes it even more difficult to find exercises I can do with out aggrivating my injuries.

Yup, looks like it was blog comments passing in the night :)

I have to admit, I read ''60kgs'' and couldn''t get my head around it. Then again I am 6 foot 6 with my goal being to get down to double figures in terms of kgs.

Being so tall I don''t think I /looked/ too bad (though it did get a bit iffy), and nothing like the guys you see on Biggest Loset. It''s the fitness side of things that is the real problem. You find yourself struggling a little going up stairs and you have to worry - worse still I''m a 20-a-day smoker.

18 months ago I was almost 2 of you (in terms of weight). What is probably more striking is the realisation that I am carrying around TWENTY large 1kg bags of sugar LESS and still need to lose another 15 or so.

Or in other words - total loss would equal about half of one of you. ROFL

Can you tell I''m a stats/maths/computer person?

Woohoo, way to go, well done, congratulations, and good on ya!

Hitting 38 last year and my Dad having a heart attack (without him even knowing it) prompted me to sort myself out too, so I get where you're coming from.

Sensible eating and gym for me, but feel free to drop me a line (my wife is always looking at different things lol)

Not sure about not drinking at all though - especially being a Perth Glory supporter - need something to numb the pain lol

Keep up the good work anyway
Gaz
