Update about my weight loss
Well, it has been an interesting couple of weeks....

I got to 67 kilos (147.4 pounds) and stayed there for about 1 week. I would lose some, then put some back on, then stay there, then more of same... Eventually I realised that 67 kg must have been what they call a "set point" for me. A set point is a weight that you've been for a while at some point and that your body remembers and feels comfortable with... When you reach that set point again, then the body doesn't want to push through that... It is also the reason why so many people lose weight and then put it back on again -- that is, they didn't reset their set point (or more likely, didn't know that you had to or even could !!) I had to take some (guided) action to get past that, but once I did, I started losing again...

I have also discovered that I lose weight differently to most people... Most people on this program lose a steady 100 to 200g (0.2 - 0.4 lbs) per day. That way they can easily monitor what happens if they do something "wrong" (eat the wrong food, not walk enough steps, not drink enough water, etc). But that would be too simple for me, apparently!! LOL Instead, what I do, is I lose a BIG amount in one day (like 700 or 900 g) and then I might lose a bit then next day, and then I gain 200 or 300 g back... It makes it harder to monitor, but it is good now that I have worked it out. I have stopped stressing about it...

So, this week has been my first Add More Food weeks (remember I'm going to do two, and then go back to weight loss again)... Initially, even though I followed instructions, I continued to lose weight.... Sounds good, but it isn't really, as if you don't learn how to maintain your weight within a kilo of where you're at, while adding food then two things happen. Firstly, your body gets used to living on the reduced amount of food (no, you don't get hungry, but you are eating differently!!), and then the weight loss stops. And secondly, you won't reset your set point.

I started the week at 66.2 kg (145.6 lb) , but then I ended up dropping to 65.7 kg (144.5 lb) which I maintained for one day, and now I am back up to 66.1 kg (145.4 lb). So, all in all, I think that is pretty successful. Of course, I have to get through another week of this!

I already know that 65 kg (143 lb) is a set point for me, as when I was very fit back when the twins would stay in the pram, I was stuck on 65 kg for a couple of years... This was before I knew about set points, you see... LOL

So, I know that I am going to have to push on through that one, too... That is my first goal. My 8 year old daughter, Trinity, who loves computer time management games, calls my second goal, my expert goal. LOL That goal is 62 kilos (136.4 lb). The reason that I didn't set it as my original goal is that I thought it was just complete pie in the sky, but now I know differently!! Yeeha!!

Then I should be able to see my almost forgotten hip-bones!! If that is too skinny, I am sure I won't have any trouble putting it back on!! Anyone for Brie and bickies??

Well done, Sandra. I'd love to get back down to 70kg or, failing that, 75kg. But I never seem to be able to get below 78kg and always seem to gravitate back to 79kg. At that weight, I'm actually on the 'cusp' between a healthy BMI for my height (5'10½') and the overweight range, so I'm not panicky about it (yet). My body seems to have grown quite attached to its spare tyre. Maybe the spare tyre might come in useful if I ever have a flat tyre? I maxed out at about 83kg last year and decided enough was enough and I should stop pigging out. It was nearly all healthy food, but too much of a good thing blah blah blah...
