I Shall Play

I shall play with stars
Light-years from Earth.
Where gold and diamond rings
Are things of little worth.

Where gravity chains my body
Not my feelings, down.
A world a billion miles away
From any Earthly town.

I shall bless that planet
Where ashtrays are not made
Of Elephant and Gorilla feet
In rabbit-tail brocade.

And look across the void
To this world of dismay
Where suffering is so tolerated;
I had to run away!
