The dawn ascended in my heart I begged her playfully to stay But she and I could only part For I am man and she is day.
The dusk threw pearls into my soul And made a necklace of the stars - Which sing to me when I am low In soft, melodic, soothing bars.
I laid my body down for night And offered her my purest thoughts, What cared I for the wrong or right When beauty blew me to her ports -
I love the hours spent with those Who make of life no desperation; Whose very being we suppose To be the crowing of creation.
