  Fairystories and Poems
May
Did the land lie like a nude glistening
With salt water when the earth convulsed, made
A continent, simmering, shivering,
Waiting for the roar, heat and fire to fade
For the idea of the seed and flower
To bind the epochs together, until
With a magnificent growth in power
It devised trees to complement its hills?
When we stood upright in imitation
Of the trees and invaded their homelands
Making them our own without distinction
Because we had exchanged branches for hands

We did not know mankind could never be
Without the birth, growth, sacrifice of trees.
