My friend Mary died yesterday. Suddenly, inexplicably, without warning. Breathing, vibrant, mind churning with life, ideas and wonder. My friend Mary died yesterday and tore many lives asunder. A good woman? Yes. God's woman? Only God can say. Loved by friends and family. Respected by her family and friends. Loved to laugh, work, sing, debate and play. My friend Mary died yesturday and I've not released the tears. The measure of a woman is her wealth of friends and knowledge. The measure of her heart is what she gives to others. Her death, to many, is wastefulness and carnage. My friend Mary died yesterday and I feel I've lost a sister. Could she have done more? Did she do more than she should? Who is there to say what matters in a woman’s life? Who but God determines that which is evil or good? My friend Mary died yesterday. So ends her earthly strife. Life will go on. Flowers will bloom and trees will grow. The sun will warm and the north wind will blow. People will work, know sorrow and laughter. My friend Mary died yesterday and the world seems eerily still. Hope is not in living, but in leaving this life behind. The good work is completed when eternal life begins. Death is not to fear, for it brings us life sublime. My friend Mary died yesturday. Her earthly suffering is at an end Now there is one more Angel in Heaven
